Terms & Conditions

By creating an account or registering a team with Recess, you agree to these Terms & Conditions in full. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform or participate in any league activities.

You must be 18 years of age or older to register. By completing registration, you confirm that you are physically eligible to participate in recreational sports and that you have no medical conditions that would put you or others at risk during participation.

Team registration fees are paid by the team captain at the time of registration. All fees are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD). A registration is not confirmed until payment is completed in full.

Installment plans, where available, must be completed in full. Failure to complete scheduled installment payments may result in removal from the division without refund of amounts already paid.

Full refunds are issued if a cancellation is requested 14 or more days before the season start date. Cancellations made within 14 days of the season start are refunded at 50% of the registration fee. No refunds are issued once the season has begun.

No refunds will be issued for suspensions or bans resulting from conduct violations. To request a refund, email play@therecess.club.

All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner at all times: on the court, in the gym, and in any communication with staff, referees, or other players. Recess reserves the right to suspend or permanently ban any player or team for:

• Physical altercations or threats of violence
• Verbal abuse directed at referees, staff, or other participants
• Repeated technical fouls or flagrant unsportsmanlike conduct
• Fraudulent registration or misrepresentation of identity

Participation in recreational sports carries an inherent risk of injury. By registering and participating, you voluntarily acknowledge and assume all such risks. Recess, its staff, referees, and venue partners are not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages sustained during games, practices, or any league-related activities.

You are responsible for maintaining appropriate health and personal insurance coverage. We strongly recommend consulting a physician before participating if you have any pre-existing health concerns.

All games are professionally filmed and footage is published publicly on YouTube and other platforms operated by Recess. Scorekeepers and staff may photograph games for promotional use on our website and social media. By registering and participating, you grant Recess the right to record, publish, and use footage or images of you in connection with league activities. If you have specific concerns, contact us before your season begins.

Game statistics, player profiles, team records, and other data collected through the platform may be displayed publicly. By participating, you grant Recess the right to publish your name, team name, game statistics, and likeness in connection with league operations and promotions.

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 7 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
