Recess started in Markham with a simple conviction: recreational basketball deserved the same level of organization, stats, and culture as the pros. Certified referees, live stat tracking, custom jerseys, full game footage. We built all of it from scratch.
We're still rooted in Markham and still obsessed with the details. Every team has a place, every player has a story, and every season ends with hardware on the line.

From one court to a league

One court. One idea.
It started in Markham: a single gymnasium, a handful of teams, and a belief that rec basketball deserved better. No jerseys, no stats, no production. Just the game and the people who loved it.
- 2021
Building something real.
We added live stat tracking, custom jerseys, certified refs, and weekly game footage. Players weren't just showing up anymore. They were building a record, a reputation, a legacy.
- 2023
Growing across the Greater Toronto Area.
What started as a Markham league grew into something bigger. New cities, new rivalries, same standard. Every gym we enter gets the full Recess experience.

We're still based in Markham and still obsessed with making every season feel like it matters. More locations are coming, but the culture stays the same.
