Privacy Policy

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored as a one-way hash. We never see or store your actual password in any readable form.

When you register a team, payment is processed entirely by Stripe. We never store your raw card number, CVV, or full banking details.

During gameplay, we collect official stat lines (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and more) linked to your player account. This data powers standings, leaderboards, and your personal career stats.

• To operate your account and process league registration
• To display public player profiles, team pages, standings, and leaderboards
• To send transactional emails: registration confirmations, payment receipts, schedule updates, and game results
• To improve the platform based on aggregate, anonymized usage data

All games are professionally filmed. Footage is published publicly on YouTube and other Recess-operated platforms as part of the league experience. Scorekeepers and staff may also photograph games for use on our website and social media.

By registering and participating, you acknowledge that you may appear in game footage or photos. If you have specific concerns about this, please contact us before your season begins.

We do not sell your personal information. Your name and stats are publicly visible on leaderboards and team pages as part of the league experience. This is expected and by design. Your email address is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

We work with the following service providers to operate the platform, each bound by data processing agreements:

• Stripe (payment processing)
• MongoDB Atlas (database hosting)
• Vercel (application hosting)
• YouTube / Google (game footage hosting)

Your account, stats, and game history are retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account by emailing play@therecess.club. Historical game records and aggregate statistics may be retained in anonymized form as part of league records even after account deletion.

Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. We have no way to read them. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. HTTPS is enforced across the entire platform.

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use tracking cookies, third-party analytics cookies, or advertising cookies of any kind.

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email us at play@therecess.club and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are located in Canada, your rights are further protected under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, including PIPEDA.
